Cllr Peter Matten was out litter picking the local area and was approached by families and dog walkers who have been experiencing access issues with overgrown weeds, nettles, and vegetation at the park between Cowper Rd and Chaucer Way Daventry. Cllr Matten immediately headed in that direction. Once arrived he was appalled by the state of the footpath including the buried litter. Cllr Matten litter-picked the area first and found items that expired many years ago which made it clear the area hadn't been maintained properly for some time. Cllr Matten contacted WNC and lobbied them to get this matter resolved as soon as possible so children and residents could access this play park safely and without getting stung this summer!
We are now pleased to be able to update everyone that the area has been cleared this morning - 14/08/23!
Much appreciation to West Northants Council for jumping on this and especially Ash and Jake from E M Pell & Partners Ltd who both worked on this project in the pouring rain this morning and did a superb job!
